Da martedì 2 a domenica 7 febbraio 2016, al Teatro San Genesio, sotto l’attenta Direzione Artistica di Fabiana De Rose, è in scena, presentato da The Rome Savoyards/Plays in Rome, “AS YOU LIKE IT”, di William Shakespeare

The Rome Savoyards and Plays in Rome, present “AS YOU LIKE IT”, by William Shakespeare, directed by Sandra Provost
This lovely comedy by William Shakespeare believed to have been written in 1599, follows its heroine Rosalind as she flees persecution in her uncle's court, accompanied by her cousin Celia to find safety and eventually, love, in the Forest of Arden. In the forest, they encounter a variety of memorable characters and what follows their escape is an elaborate scheme devised by the disguised, cross-dressing Rosalind to find out the verity of Orlando's (the man she loves) supposed passion for her and to further capture his heart, through the witty and mischievous façades and disguises.
The play features one of Shakespeare's most famous and oft-quoted speeches, "All the world's a stage", and is the origin of the phrase "too much of a good thing". Indeed the musicality of the words has often brought critics to define this pastoral comedy as “Mozartian”. This light and witty comedy addresses timeless and universal themes such as the values of a simple life; brotherly love versus the struggle over inheritance; relieving the soul through forgiveness.
“As you like it” thus remains a favorite among audiences and has been adapted for radio, film, and musical theatre. This performance will fall significantly between the two important anniversaries of William Shakespeare’s birth (450 years, recently celebrated) and death (400 years, recurring in April 2016).
Cast (in order of appearance):
Edoardo Camponeschi, Harry McCrory, Rishad Noorani, Patricia Standingford, Eddie Zengeni, Gabrielle Chiararo, Fabiana De Rose, Shelagh Stuchbery, Rosie Hillesley, Gabriella Spadaro, Michael Fitzpatrick, Paige Short, Sonia Seri, Rhonda AbouHana, Fee Huebner, Lee Archer, Ulan Iskakov.
